Starting in June 2025, this series offers international PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers a comprehensive understanding of the German research landscape. The series will provide insights into research conditions, funding opportunities, institutional support services, and life in Germany.

Event Structure and Key Features

Each session features expert talks by institutional representatives and experienced international researchers sharing their personal experiences. This format ensures a balanced perspective. All events conclude with an interactive Q&A session, allowing participants to engage directly with the speakers.

Featured Institution: Research Campus of Central Hessen (FCMH)

The Research Campus of Central Hessen (FCMH) unites the strengths of three universities: Justus Liebig University Giessen, Philipps-Universität Marburg, and THM University of Applied Sciences. Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU), founded in 1607, is a research university with a long-standing tradition attracting around 25,000 students. JLU offers a wide range of subjects, including life science subjects unique in Hesse. Nobel Prize winners like Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen and Wangari Maathai have researched and taught at JLU.

Philipps University of Marburg (UMR) offers a diverse research profile, spanning from the humanities to cutting-edge life sciences. The university's key research strengths complement other institutions in the regional research network through strategic collaborations and joint initiatives. The university also provides career opportunities for early-career researchers, including current job openings and tailored support structures.

Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen University of Applied Sciences (THM) is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Germany. THM offers a wide range of study programs and is located in Central Hesse. Key research areas include biotechnology, medical engineering, materials research, aerospace applications, and energy management.
