The Centre for Nano Science and Engineering (CeNSE) at IISc is launching a program focused on semiconductor technology skills. This initiative aims to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the semiconductor industry.
India's emergence as a semiconductor manufacturing hub, supported by the India Semiconductor Mission, necessitates a skilled workforce. Industry projections indicate a need for 30,000+ skilled personnel by 2027 and 65,000 by 2032.
This program offers cutting-edge training and insights into semiconductor fabrication and characterization processes. It is designed for both academics and industry professionals seeking to upskill.
The Foundational Workshop on Semiconductor Manufacturing covers nanofabrication fundamentals, including unit processes and memory process flow. It also delves into contamination control and yield optimization techniques.
Participants will explore process variability, metrology, and advanced topics such as MEMS, power electronics, and semiconductor packaging. Insights into semiconductor equipment design and cleanroom functionality will also be provided.
The course duration is 60 hours, providing a comprehensive understanding of semiconductor manufacturing. Participants will also learn about tape out procedures and the collaboration between design houses and foundries.
Participants will gain a fundamental understanding of semiconductor manufacturing and the role of wafer fabs. They will also learn about essential equipment used in IC fabrication.
The course covers cleanroom design principles, including airflow, filtration, and utility integration. Contamination control and safety protocols crucial for semiconductor production will also be discussed.
Attendees will develop a clear understanding of the tape out flow and its critical steps. They will also learn about process variability, yield engineering, and the importance of metrology.
Professionals in industries, startups, and related sectors with relevant expertise or interest are encouraged to apply. Faculties and academicians with relevant expertise are also eligible.
Registration will open soon, so keep an eye on the website for updates. The organizing team includes Sushobhan Avasthi, Srinivasan Raghavan, Shankar KS, Akshay Naik, and Suresha SJ.
For company collaborations, please reach out to workshop.cense@iisc.ac.in. The program fee is INR 5000+GST for academics and INR 15000+GST for non-academics/industries.
The event is scheduled for August 18-26, 2025, also lasting 7 days. These events provide valuable insights into semiconductor manufacturing.
