Overview

CSIR-Center for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB) is hosting a 16-day hands-on training workshop on "Molecular Cloning and Protein Expression" (RECOMB-IV). This program is designed for individuals in Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Science, and related fields.

The workshop aims to provide a comprehensive introduction to the basics of molecular cloning and protein expression. Participants will gain practical skills essential for basic research and various experimental applications.

The training will incorporate informative lectures, hands-on laboratory sessions, instrument setup demonstrations, and data collection and analysis exercises. This multifaceted approach ensures a well-rounded learning experience.

Dates, Location, and Target Audience

The workshop will be held from July 14th to July 29th, 2025, at CSIR-CCMB in Hyderabad, Telangana. This in-house training program offers a focused and immersive learning environment.

The target audience includes faculty, researchers from academia and industry, and post-graduate students. Individuals working in Life Sciences, Medical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Science, and allied areas are encouraged to apply.

A Master's degree in any branch of Life Science or related fields is the minimum qualification required for participation. Only 10-12 seats are available, ensuring personalized attention and a conducive learning atmosphere.

Training Curriculum

The curriculum covers a wide range of essential techniques, starting with media preparation and bacterial cell culture handling. Participants will also learn about reagent preparation and the proper use of equipment for cloning.

Key topics include competent cell preparation, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) principles and oligo design, and plasmid vector preparation. Restriction digestion, ligation, and transformation of recombinant genes will also be covered.

The training extends to screening for positive clones, confirmation using colony PCR or restriction enzyme digestion, and DNA sequencing. Participants will also learn protein expression standardization, purification strategies, and SDS-PAGE analysis.

Registration and Fees

The course fee is INR 30,000, which includes accommodation and GST. This comprehensive fee covers all training materials, access to equipment, and lodging for the duration of the workshop.

Interested candidates can apply through the provided link: http://recruitment.ccmb.res.in/training_programs/sdp/. The selection process involves reviewing the application form and statement of purpose.

Due to the limited number of seats, early application is highly recommended. Ensure all required documents are submitted to complete the application process.

Additional Information

The training program boasts skilled resource persons who will provide both lectures and hands-on laboratory training. Participants will also receive exposure to laboratory safety regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant learning environment.

One-to-one interaction with the trainers is a key feature, allowing for personalized guidance and support. Evaluation assignments and troubleshooting sessions will further enhance the learning experience.

A certificate of participation will be issued to all participants upon successful completion of the workshop. For any queries, contact Dr. Archana Bharadwaj Siva, Nodal Scientist: Skill Development Program, at sdp@ccmb.res.in.
