Description

The FY2025 NAGPRA Repatriation Grants, administered by the National Park Service, provide funding to museums, Indian Tribes, and Native Hawaiian organizations for costs associated with the consultation, documentation, and repatriation of Native American human remains, funerary objects, sacred objects, and objects of cultural patrimony under the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act of 1990 (25 U.S.C. 3008).

Overview

The programme assists eligible entities in defraying expenses related to the packaging, transportation, contamination removal, reburial, and storage of NAGPRA human remains or cultural items. Project activities may include travel, transportation, testing or decontamination, building containers for transport, ceremonial materials, and staff time. Further details on allowable project activities are available in the Program Overview.
