Pfizer is offering Independent Medical Education Grants to support educational programs focused on post-COVID conditions (Long COVID or PASC). The goal is to enhance the knowledge and skills of primary care providers and infectious disease specialists in the diagnosis and management of these conditions, with a focus on addressing health disparities in underserved communities.

Focus and Objectives

The primary focus of this grant is to support educational initiatives that improve the recognition, testing, and assessment of post-COVID conditions. Programs should aim to enhance the understanding of various clinical presentations and potential complications associated with the condition.

Grant activities should outline effective management strategies for post-COVID conditions, including both pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments. Emphasis should be placed on symptom management, referral pathways, and ongoing monitoring of patients.

A key objective is to address health disparities by promoting culturally responsive care and improving health literacy. Projects should also focus on advocating for equitable access to care and leveraging community resources for marginalized populations.

Successful programs will summarize the latest research on the causes, prevention, assessment, and management of post-COVID conditions. All activity types will be considered, with an emphasis on innovative programs designed to meet the needs of a large primary care provider audience.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligible applicants include medical, dental, nursing, allied health, and pharmacy professional schools. Healthcare institutions, professional organizations/medical societies, medical education companies, and other entities with a healthcare-related mission are also eligible.

Only organizations are eligible to receive grants; individuals or medical practice groups are not. The requesting organization must be legally able to receive funding directly from Pfizer Inc.

  • The applicant must be the project/program lead or an authorized designee.

  • For projects offering continuing education credit, the requesting organization must be accredited.

The project/program lead must be an employee or contractor of the requesting organization. If the project involves multiple departments within an institution and/or between different institutions / organizations / associations, all institutions must have a relevant role and the requesting organization must have a key role in the project.

Funding Details and Timeline

Individual projects can request up to $150,000. The maximum project length is one year. The estimated total available budget related to this RFP is $450,000.

Key Requirements and Considerations

The primary area of interest is VAV - COVID-19 (Antiviral) - KG. The target audience includes primary care providers (Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Urgent Care Providers) and Infectious Disease Specialists.

It is not Pfizer's intent to support clinical research projects or projects evaluating the efficacy of therapeutic or diagnostic agents. The grant requester is responsible for the design, implementation, sponsorship, and conduct of the independent initiative supported by the grant, including compliance with any regulatory requirements.

All applicants will be notified via email regarding the outcome of their application. If approved, the institution will be required to enter into a written grant agreement with Pfizer. Modifications to grant agreements will not be reviewed unless a genuine conflict exists as between applicable law and the terms of the relevant grant agreement.

Questions regarding the RFP should be directed in writing to the Grant Officer, Monika Sojewska (Monika.Sojewska@pfizer.com), with the subject line "Post-COVID Conditions: Potential Diagnosis, Testing, Management, and Ongoing Research".
