The Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS), through the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP), invites applications for the Community Parent Resource Centers (CPRCs) program, Assistance Listing Number 84.328C. This program funds local parent organizations to provide training and information to parents of children with disabilities, helping improve educational outcomes and strengthening parental involvement in their children’s education. CPRCs serve families in geographically defined communities that experience significant isolation from available sources of information and support, consistent with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) (20 U.S.C. 1472(b)(4)).
The purpose of the Special Education Parent Information Centers program is to ensure that parents of children with disabilities receive high-quality, relevant, and useful training and information to help improve outcomes for their children. CPRCs promote the effective education of children with disabilities by strengthening the role and responsibility of parents and ensuring that families have meaningful opportunities to participate in their children’s education at school and at home. Under this priority, CPRCs must increase parents’ capacity to help their children meet developmental and functional goals and challenging academic achievement goals established for all children, and be prepared to lead productive and independent adult lives to the maximum extent possible.
