Raman–Charpak Fellowship for Indian & French PhD Students and French Masters’ Students

Overview:

The Raman–Charpak Fellowship is an esteemed Indo-French bilateral fellowship program honouring Nobel Laureates Prof. C.V. Raman and Prof. Georges Charpak. Launched in 2013, this initiative promotes the exchange of doctoral and master's students between India and France to enhance their research skills and foster future collaborations in Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Fellowship Support:

  • For Indian Fellows: €1500 per month for daily expenses, local travel, accommodation, and Social Security charges.

  • For French Fellows: Rs. 40,000 per month for daily expenses, local travel, and up to Rs. 45,000 per month for accommodation.

  • Economy class air ticket (India-France and vice versa).

  • Travel and health insurance.

  • Visa and registration costs.

  • Additional support up to €500 for Indian Fellows and equivalent for French Fellows for seminar/workshop participation.

Eligibility Criteria for Raman–Charpak Fellowship:

For PhD Students:

  • Indian citizens residing in India, enrolled in a PhD program at a recognized Indian institution.

  • French citizens residing in France, enrolled in a PhD/Master’s program at a recognized French institution.

  • Age: Maximum 30 years as of April 1, 2024.

  • Previous recipients of CEFIPRA support and students with permanent positions are ineligible.

  • Must have pre-authorization from their home institute.

For French Master’s Students:

  • Must be residing in France and enrolled in a Master’s program.

  • Age: Maximum 30 years as of April 1, 2024.

  • Previous recipients of CEFIPRA support and students with permanent positions are ineligible.

  • Must have pre-authorization from their home institute.

Application Procedure:

For PhD Students (Indian or French):

  • Register and apply online at www.cefipra.org.

  • Required documents include a detailed research proposal, CV, letter of recommendation from PhD supervisor, agreement letter from the host supervisor, PhD synopsis, research experience letter/publications, No Objection Certificate (for Indian applicants), and a valid passport copy.

For French Master’s Students:

  • Register and apply online at www.cefipra.org.

  • Required documents include the highest diploma obtained, proof of registration in the current program, a detailed research plan, CV, letter of recommendation from the Master’s program supervisor, agreement letter from the host supervisor, research experience letter/publications, and a valid passport copy.

Important Dates:

  • Application Launch: August 1, 2024

  • Evaluations: September/October 2024

  • Declaration of Results: End of October/November 2024

  • Fellowship Start Date: December 2024 (latest by June 30, 2025)
