The Talent Search Program (TS) identifies qualified individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have potential for postsecondary education and encourages them to complete secondary school and pursue education beyond the high school level. Administered by the Employment and Training Administration at the U.S. Department of Labor on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education, the program also publicizes the availability of student financial assistance, facilitates applications for such aid, and encourages individuals who have not completed secondary or postsecondary programs to enter, reenter, and complete those programs.
The Talent Search Program is a federal grant competition (Assistance Listing 84.044, TRIO Talent Search) that supports projects designed to help qualified individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds successfully navigate the path to postsecondary education. The program seeks to increase the number of these individuals who complete secondary school and enroll in postsecondary programs. Projects also work to ensure that students and their families are informed about available student financial aid and receive help with the application process.
