Responsibilities

The predoctoral university assistant will be responsible for conducting research on their dissertation topic, participating in teaching activities, and contributing to administrative tasks. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Writing and researching a dissertation, dedicating one-third of working time to independent research.
  • Collaborating in research and teaching projects at the Institute.
  • Participating in audits and evaluation activities.
  • Supporting students in their academic endeavors.
  • Executing courses and holding examinations independently.

Qualifications

Candidates must have completed a diploma/master's degree in law, which qualifies them to study for a doctorate, or an equivalent qualification with a focus on Austrian and European public law. Ideal candidates will have demonstrable knowledge and interest in these areas, along with experience in institute operations and teaching. Additional desirable qualifications include:

  • Demonstrable knowledge and focus of interest in Austrian or European public law.
  • Experience or willingness to use multimedia teaching and learning formats.
  • Specific interests in research areas such as state organization law, administrative procedure and legal protection, rule of law, general administrative law, international and comparative constitutional law, and the interaction of Union law and national law.
  • A proven publication record.
  • Knowledge of foreign languages and experience abroad.
  • Qualified computer skills for preparing legal texts and manuscripts.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
