Overview of NIBMG Internship Program

The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG) offers short-term and long-term training opportunities for eligible students pursuing their M.Sc. or Master's degrees. This program provides hands-on experience in various research areas within the institute. Note that students who have already graduated are not eligible for this training.

To be eligible, students in integrated BS-MS programs must have completed at least six semesters of their coursework. The training should ideally fall within their seventh semester. Interested candidates can directly apply to NIBMG faculty members who have vacancies in their labs.

Detailed profiles and research interests of NIBMG faculty members are available on the NIBMG website (www.nibmg.ac.in). Candidates are encouraged to explore these profiles to identify potential mentors whose research aligns with their interests.

Training Sessions and Duration

NIBMG offers two types of training sessions: long-term and short-term. Long-term training spans six months, while short-term training lasts for two to three months. Specific application periods and start dates apply to each session.

For the long-term Session I (July to December), applications are invited from April 1st. For Session II (January to June), applications are invited from October 1st. Short-term training applications are accepted two months prior to the estimated training start date, between April 1st and September 30th.

It's important to note that trainees seeking training for more than six months will not be considered under this specific NIBMG training program. Candidates should carefully review the application deadlines and session dates to ensure their availability aligns with the program requirements.

Application Process and Required Documents

The application process involves submitting a training form and a detailed CV. The training form should include your full name, contact information, intended training dates, current affiliation, areas of interest, and a brief statement explaining why NIBMG is an appropriate institution for your training.

Your CV should highlight your academic accomplishments, including marks secured in board and degree exams. For the current degree, provide a year-wise or semester-wise breakdown of marks/CGPA. Include any relevant technical skills you possess.

Provisionally selected candidates must also submit a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from their academic institution, mentioning the exact dates of training. This letter is mandatory and must be submitted within 3 days of receiving the confirmation email.

Selection Criteria and Joining Information

Faculty members at NIBMG will select trainees based on several factors. These include the candidate's overall academic track record and CV, the availability of faculty supervisors during the training duration, and the alignment of the trainee's areas of interest with those of available faculty members.

Upon joining NIBMG, candidates must bring a letter from their institute confirming their academic status and permitting them to undergo training, along with relevant documents showing marks obtained in previous semesters and exams. A proof of date of birth and two passport-size photographs are also required.

Joining typically occurs on a weekday, preferably the first Monday of the month. Candidates should ensure they have all the necessary documents ready to facilitate a smooth onboarding process.

Fees, Accommodation, and Location

Selected candidates will be required to pay a monthly fee of Rs 2500 for training. While hostel accommodation was previously available for Rs 1000 per month, it is currently unavailable. Trainees are responsible for their own accommodation and living expenses.

NIBMG does not provide any stipend, travel allowance (TA), or daily allowance (DA) to trainees. However, there is a canteen and cafeteria on campus where food is served on a paid basis. Trainees must cover their own food expenses.

NIBMG is conveniently located near the "Kalyani Main" or "Kalyani Junction" railway station. Detailed directions on how to reach NIBMG can be found on the institute's website: http://www.nibmg.ac.in/?q=content/reachnibmg.
