The Activate Fellowship 2025 is a two-year program designed to transform scientists and engineers into founders.

Scope of Work

The Activate Fellowship focuses on supporting scientists and engineers in commercializing their hardware-based technology innovations.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the Activate Fellowship, applicants must meet the following criteria:

• Hold a bachelor's degree and have 4+ years of post-baccalaureate experience in scientific research, engineering, or technology development.

• Be leading the commercial development of a hardware-based technology innovation for the first time.

• Be committed full-time to the proposed project or company.

• Be legally able to work in the U.S. for the duration of the fellowship.

• Be able to communicate proficiently in English.

The proposed project or company must:

• Be based in the physical or biological sciences or related engineering disciplines.

• Still be in development and not yet ready for full-scale product sales.

• Not have raised more than $2M in debt or equity funding from non-governmental sources.

Budget and Duration

The Activate Fellowship provides a yearly living stipend of $100,000, plus travel allowance, health insurance, and relocation assistance.

Each project also receives $100,000 in R&D funds and access to at least $75,000 in additional flexible capital.

The fellowship lasts for two years.
