The AfriMAB GRÓ LRT Land Restoration Fellowships 2025 is a six-month training program hosted at the Agricultural University of Iceland.

The program focuses onland restoration and sustainable land management, aligning with the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration (2021-2030).

The fellowship aims to equip individuals with the knowledge and skills to contribute to ecosystem restoration efforts, particularly within the context of the Man and the Biosphere program.

Scope of Work

The fellowship program consists of two phases. The first 12 weeks involve coursework, practical training, and field trips.

The remaining 12 weeks are dedicated to individual projects, allowing fellows to specialize in areas relevant to their backgrounds and work needs.

Upon successful completion, fellows receive a Postgraduate Diploma in Ecosystem Restoration and Sustainable Land Management.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the AfriMAB GRÓ LRT Land Restoration Fellowships, candidates must meet the following criteria:

  • Currently working and actively involved in biosphere reserve ecosystem restoration activities.

  • Hold at least one university degree in a field related to GRÓ LRT's work, such as ecology, natural sciences, environmental management, or studies.

  • Possess at least one year of experience working in a biosphere reserve in a relevant field.

  • Be proficient in English (speaking, reading, and writing).

  • Be under the age of 40.

Budget and Duration

The GRÓ LRT Fellowship covers various expenses for the fellows, including tuition, academic costs, travel, health insurance, and a stipend for living expenses during their stay in Iceland. The next training program is scheduled to begin in early March 2025.
