The Archivi.ng Fellowship 2024-2025 is a six-month multidisciplinary program aimed at enhancing global understanding of Nigerian history.

The program focuses on digitizing archival materials, primarily newspapers and magazines, to make them accessible and promote historical understanding.

Archivi.ng believes that uncovering hidden stories and perspectives within Nigeria's archives is crucial for a deeper understanding of the country's history.

Scope of Work

The fellowship encourages projects that align with Archivi.ng's mission of making history accessible.

Projects should utilize archival materials for analysis or reinterpretation, offer unique perspectives, and be feasible within the six-month timeframe.

The projects should also have the potential to engage a broad or niche audience.

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to historians, ethnographers, journalists, artists, technologists, researchers, writers, filmmakers, content creators, and anyone interested in promoting understanding of Nigerian history. Applicants must be:

  • Curious about Nigerian history and passionate about making it accessible.

  • Proven producers of knowledge work.

  • Believers that their work contributes to a deeper understanding of Nigeria.

  • Residents of Nigeria.

  • Not affiliated with any government-owned entities or political parties.

Budget and Duration

The fellowship provides a monthly stipend of ₦500,000 to cover project logistics and production.

It also offers full access to Archivi.ng's collections, online and offline, personalized mentorship from relevant experts, publication and distribution of work on Archivi.ng's platform and other channels, and collaborative learning circles with fellow participants.

The fellowship duration is six months.
