The Cooperação Bilateral Portugal-Alemanha 2026: concurso conjunto | Portugal-Germany Bilateral Cooperation 2026: Joint Tender supports researcher exchange and mobility between Portugal and Germany across all scientific disciplines. The programme is jointly administered by the Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT) and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).

Overview

The initiative aims to foster cooperation between professors and researchers, including young researchers, at higher education institutions and affiliated research institutions in Portugal and Germany. The programme supports researcher exchange and mobility within international projects, with funding categories covering general funding, incoming mobility, outgoing mobility, and travel grants.

Eligibility

Beneficiaries include non-business entities of the National Science and Technology System, namely:

• Higher education institutions and their institutes and R&D units
• State or international laboratories headquartered in Portugal
• Private non-profit institutions whose main purpose is R&D activity
• Other public and private non-profit institutions that develop or participate in scientific research activities
• Companies of any nature and legal form

The programme targets Established Researchers (R3) who have developed a level of independence.

Funding and Benefits

Projects have a maximum duration of 24 months, renewable annually under Articles 13 and 14 of the regulation. FCT provides annual funding of 2,500 EUR per project.
