Description

The Farm Business Transition - Round 2 supports sheep producers through grant funding to support the adoption of alternative farming systems and practices.

Overview

The Australian Government is inviting sheep producers to apply for Round 2 of the open competitive Farm Business Transition Program. Grant funding may be utilized for a range of activities, including planning, professional and technical advice, application of research and development innovations extension activities, and investment in on-farm infrastructure and improvements. Applicants may apply to both the Farm Business Transition and Supply Chain Capacity programs, though funding will not be provided for the same activity from both programs.

Funding for this program is provided under the Phase Out of Live Sheep Exports by Sea - transition assistance initiative.

Funding and Benefits

  • Maximum Grant Funding: Up to $75,000 (GST exclusive) over both rounds, per eligible applicant.
  • Co-contribution Requirement: Applicants are required to provide a 1:1 cash co-contribution, matching the dollar value of the grant funding approved. In-kind contributions will not be accepted as matched funding.
  • Ineligible Costs: Costs incurred before a grant agreement is executed or the agreed activity start date are ineligible.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must be one of the following entity types:

  • Company
  • Cooperative
  • Incorporated Association
  • Indigenous Corporation
  • Partnership
  • Person
  • Sole Trader

If applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust, the Trustee must be one of the eligible entity types listed above. Individuals who are not GST registered may apply on behalf of a GST registered partnership, provided the Partnership agreement is supplied.

Applicants must demonstrate that they have actively participated in the industry and have been involved in the industry since 2018.
