The Food Business Accelerator (FBA) is a statewide accelerator program for early-stage food entrepreneurs in Connecticut, USA.

It is organized by CitySeed and Collab, aiming to remove barriers to food entrepreneurship through training, networking, and resource access.

The program focuses on creating economic opportunities, increasing leadership among diverse entrepreneurs, and strengthening the local food system.

Scope of Work

The FBA program offers a 12-week workshop series covering leadership, entrepreneurship, wholesale and local procurement, legal and regulatory requirements, and more.

Participants receive seed funding, access to commercial kitchen space, 1-on-1 coaching sessions, mentorship, opportunities to vend at farmers markets, SafeServe Managers training, and a chance to pitch to investors and community members.

Eligibility

The program is open to early-stage food entrepreneurs in Connecticut, USA. Participants must have access to reliable internet and a device with a webcam and microphone.

The program prioritizes entrepreneurs who demonstrate a willingness to learn, commitment and availability, and a passion for community building.

Budget and Duration

The program provides seed funding and 10 hours of licensed commercial kitchen space for the duration of the program.

The program lasts for 12 weeks, with workshops held on Wednesday evenings from 6-8pm and 1-on-1 coaching sessions occurring weekdays from 9am-5pm.

Additional Information

The FBA program is held virtually via Zoom.

Participants are expected to be able to give their undivided attention during workshops and 1-on-1 sessions.

The program emphasizes creating an inclusive and vibrant entrepreneurial community, particularly for Black, Latinx, and women entrepreneurs.
