The Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award, granted by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, supports internationally recognised researchers working in applied research for a research stay in Germany.
The Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award honours internationally recognised academics in applied research abroad for their outstanding scientific achievements. Award winners are invited to conduct a research project of their choice at a research institution in Germany in cooperation with specialist colleagues there. The award targets established researchers (Career Stage R3) who have developed a level of independence.
The Award provides 45,000 EUR. The funding supports a research stay in Germany with a total duration of between six months and a full year, which may be split into multiple stays.
Nominations for the Fraunhofer-Bessel Research Award may be initiated by directors or leading researchers at institutes of the Fraunhofer Gesellschaft in Germany. Eligible candidates are internationally recognised researchers working in applied research abroad. The research fields covered include formal sciences and professions and applied sciences.
Nominations may be submitted online at any time. The selection committee meets twice a year, in March and October.
