The Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Research Fellowships for 2026-2027 are now open, offering Indian scholars a unique opportunity to conduct research and enhance their knowledge at U.S. academic institutions. This program aims to foster long-term collaboration and develop innovative solutions to global challenges in both India and the U.S. These fellowships are for a duration of six to nine months.

Focus and Objectives

The primary goal of these fellowships is to build capacity in addressing global challenges through collaborative research. Selected scholars will have the chance to audit non-degree courses and gain practical experience in the U.S. This fellowship supports research in key priority areas relevant to both India and the United States.

The program emphasizes the importance of innovative solutions and knowledge exchange. It aims to provide Indian scholars with resources and exposure to advance their doctoral research. The fellowship encourages applicants to identify specific research objectives and resources available in both India and the U.S.

A key component is affiliation with a U.S. host institution, fostering collaboration and access to resources. Applicants are strongly encouraged to secure a letter of invitation from their preferred institution. This affiliation enhances the research experience and provides valuable networking opportunities.
