The FY 2026 State Damage Prevention grant, administered by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), supports states in establishing or improving comprehensive programs to prevent damage to underground pipeline facilities.
The purpose of the grant is to help states that do not yet have a damage prevention program create one, and to strengthen existing programs in other states. Grantees are encouraged to implement nine specific elements of an effective damage prevention program:

Additional Information: Any state authority (or municipality with respect to intrastate gas transportation) that is or will be responsible for preventing damage to underground pipeline facilities is eligible if both of the following conditions are met:
Closing: June 19, 2026. Applications received after this deadline may not be considered. PHMSA will only accept one application from each applicant.
