The FY26 COPS Anti-Methamphetamine Program (CAMP) provides competitive grants to state law enforcement agencies to advance public safety by combating methamphetamine production, trafficking, and related illicit activities. Administered by the Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) within the U.S. Department of Justice, this program supports the Administration’s priority of Making America Safe Again through community policing and common sense policing strategies.
CAMP aims to increase the number of hours devoted to statewide methamphetamine task forces, expand the number and variety of agencies participating in those task forces, and enhance the analytical capability of task forces. The program focuses on states with high seizures of precursor chemicals, finished methamphetamine, laboratories, and laboratory dump materials. Grants are intended to support locating or investigating illicit activities such as precursor diversion, clandestine laboratories, and methamphetamine traffickers.
Allowable costs include salaries and fringe benefits for new full-time sworn law enforcement officers (including eligible rehired officers not supported in the local budget) and civilian/non-sworn personnel not already in the local budget. Examples of civilian positions include CAMP project coordinators and anti-methamphetamine/drug analysts. Other allowable costs are travel and training for CAMP-related conferences, seminars, or site visits; equipment, technology, and supplies directly linked to the CAMP project; procurement contracts and consultants; and other direct costs such as software and prepaid warranties or maintenance agreements (not to exceed 36 months) and overtime for sworn officers and civilians engaged in CAMP-related investigative activities. Funds may not be used for clandestine drug laboratory cleanup, treatment programs, or prosecution of methamphetamine-related activities.
Only state law enforcement agencies in states with high seizures of precursor chemicals, finished methamphetamine, laboratories, or laboratory dump seizures are eligible. All awards are subject to the availability of appropriated funds and any modifications or additional requirements imposed by law.
Funded activities support statewide task forces focused on locating and investigating illicit activities related to methamphetamine. These include precursor diversion, laboratory operations, and trafficking. The program encourages increased participation by a variety of agencies and enhanced analytical capabilities to improve task force effectiveness.
