This funding opportunity aims to foster Gambling Harms Research and Innovation Partnerships (GHRIP) through a two-phase competitive process. Phase one focuses on partnership development and evidence analysis to inform the design of the phase two work program. The full program anticipates allocating up to £50 million over five years to address gambling-related harms.
This call is for phase one of the Gambling Harms Research and Innovation Partnerships (GHRIP). The goal is to support the development of strong partnerships and comprehensive evidence analysis. This initial phase will inform the design of a larger, five-year program.
The total fund available for this phase is £2,000,000. Individual awards will range from £70,000 to £100,000, supporting projects for a duration of nine months. UK Research & Innovation (UKRI) will fund 80% of the full economic cost (FEC) for each project.
Up to 20 phase one awards will be granted. These awards are intended to provide resources and capacity for stakeholders to develop partnerships and analyze the landscape of evidence related to gambling harms.
The funding opportunity opens on 26 June 2025 at 9:00am UK time. An informational webinar will be held on 24 July 2025 at 11:00am to provide further details and answer questions from potential applicants.
The closing date for applications is 16 September 2025 at 4:00pm UK time. Applicants must submit their proposals by this deadline to be considered for funding.
