The Great Barrier Reef Marine Debris Management and Mitigation Round 2 invites organizations to apply to deliver services under this grant opportunity.

Overview

The objectives of this grant opportunity include:

• Delivering large scale management and reduction of the threat of marine debris to species such as coral, turtles, dugongs and seabirds.
• Mitigating negative impacts of marine debris on tourism, recreation and fishing (commercial and recreational) within the Reef.
• Supporting activities that reduce water pollution from urban sources within Reef catchments.
• Improving water quality through the removal of marine debris from Reef coastlines and urban waterways.
• Developing and delivering targeted education and awareness raising activities to reduce and prevent litter, including plastics, from entering Reef waterways.
• Encouraging greater community stewardship and involvement, including with First Nations peoples, promoting a shared sense of responsibility for Reef pollutants.
• Informing and contributing to wider plastic management and mitigation strategic policy for state and/or national scale implementation.
• Identifying and supporting local or regional opportunities in circular or renewable material economies and/or activities.

Eligibility

To be eligible, applicants must:

• Possess an Australian Business Number (ABN).
• Be one of the following entities:
  • Company
  • Cooperative
  • Corporate Commonwealth Entity
  • Corporate State or Territory Entity
  • Incorporated Association
  • Indigenous Corporation
  • Local Government
  • Statutory Entity
  • Non-corporate Commonwealth Statutory Authority
  • Non-corporate State or Territory Entity
  • Non-corporate State or Territory Statutory Authority.

If applying as a Trustee on behalf of a Trust, the Trustee must be one of the eligible entity types listed above.
