The Heavy Vehicle Safety Initiatives (HVSI) is a grant opportunity designed to support the heavy vehicle industry in developing, trialing, and scaling innovative solutions. The program aims to address current safety challenges while anticipating future operational, environmental, and technological shifts in the freight sector. HVSI recognizes that emerging vehicle platforms, data-driven systems, real-time computational methods, electrification, decarbonisation, and automation are redefining freight, and the program supports industry adaptation alongside these technological advancements. The funding is intended to support forward-looking, scalable initiatives that demonstrate how safety innovations can help future-proof freight and logistics operations.
The total amount available for this grant is $19,400,000.00 AUD. The grant activity timeframe is set from 2026-27 to 2029-30.
To be eligible, the applicant must be the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR), holding ABN 48 557 596 718. Only listed organizations will be invited to apply.
