Pfizer and the Hemostasis & Thrombosis Research Society (HTRS) are offering an Independent Medical Education grant opportunity supporting Visiting Professorships for organizations with identified needs for hemophilia-focused education.

Overview

This program supports the coordination of a medical education program led by a distinguished Visiting Professor. The expertise of the Visiting Professor is matched to specific unmet educational needs surrounding shared decision making (SDM) and emerging therapeutic options in hemophilia. Clinicians, physician-scientists, multidisciplinary care teams, and patient advocacy group members at the recipient organization will host and coordinate this educational program.

(HTRS) is the leading North American professional society dedicated to research, mentoring, workforce development, and continuing medical education for physicians, investigators, and all health care professionals interested in advancing care for people with hemostatic and thrombotic disorders. Pfizer supports the global healthcare community’s independent education initiatives to improve patient outcomes in areas of unmet medical need that are aligned with medical and/or scientific strategies.

Eligibility

The opportunity is limited to organizations within the United States. Eligible applicants may include professional medical, nursing, allied health, dental, or pharmacy schools; universities and academic healthcare institutions (both large and small); patient advocacy groups, nonprofit professional organizations, or medical societies.

Important Eligibility Notes:

• Only organizations are eligible to receive grants.
• If the project involves multiple departments or different institutions, each entity must play a defined and relevant role.
• The applicant organization must designate an individual to serve as the Project or Program Lead, who must be an employee or contractor of the requesting organization.
• Proof of accreditation is required if the project offers continuing education credit.

Program Requirements and Scope

The intent of this Request for Proposals (RFP) is to invite healthcare institutions and/or patient advocacy groups with identified needs for hemophilia-focused education to submit applications to host up to a two-day medical education program at their organization. The program will be led by one or two Visiting Professor(s), identified by HTRS, with expertise matched to the organization’s unmet educational needs surrounding SDM and emerging therapeutic options in hemophilia care.

Applicants must submit a proposal that includes:

• A description of the Organization’s medical gaps, unmet needs, challenges, and questions surrounding SDM and emerging therapeutic options for hemophilia care.
• The proposed agenda for a Visiting Professorship Program up to two days in length.
• Expected or desired outcomes, including an outline of 6-month outcome metrics describing enduring changes or improvements in patient care and physician education/knowledge.
• A Proposed Budget for Logistics Expenses.
• Proof of Accreditation, if applicable.

Funding and Benefits

Individual grant amounts are available up to $6,000 USD to cover local costs, such as meeting room rental, AV support, local onsite management, onsite logistics, or planning and staffing needs. Travel expenses and honoraria for the Visiting Professor are covered separately and should not be included in the grant application budget. Approximately nine sites are expected to be supported by this educational program.

Application Process and Timeline

The RFP release date was June 25, 2026. Applications will be accepted on or before 5:00 PM ET on September 17, 2026. The review process involves an Expert Review Panel (ERP) empowered by Pfizer and HTRS. All applicants will be notified via email on or before October 30, 2026.

• Deadline for Applications: September 17, 2026 at 5:00 PM ET
• Decision Notification Date: On or before October 30, 2026
• Program Start Date: Must be after January 1, 2027

If the grant is approved, the institution will be required to enter into a written grant agreement with Pfizer.
