IndiaAI, in collaboration with the Geological Survey of India (GSI), is launching the IndiaAI Hackathon on Mineral Targeting 2025. This initiative aims to leverage AI and ML for mineral prognostication, focusing on identifying new potential areas for exploration of critical minerals. Participants will design and implement AI models to enhance the effectiveness of mineral exploration within a predefined area in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The IndiaAI Hackathon on Mineral Targeting 2025 is a strategic effort to leverage advanced technologies for mineral exploration. It focuses on a 39,000 sq. km area in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, India. The goal is to identify new potential areas for exploration of critical minerals and other commodities.
The hackathon emphasizes locating concealed & deep-seated mineralized bodies with depth modeling. Participants will develop AI/ML algorithms for data cleaning, integration, modeling, and validation. The ultimate aim is to generate mineral predictive maps showing exploration targets.
This initiative is a collaboration between IndiaAI and the Geological Survey of India (GSI). It aims to use geoscience data to identify new target areas for mineral exploration.
The primary theme is the identification of new potential areas for exploration of critical minerals. This includes minerals like REE, Ni-PGE, and copper, as well as commodities like diamond, iron, manganese, and gold. The focus area is within Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, India.
Emphasis is placed on locating concealed & deep-seated mineralised bodies through depth modelling. Participants will develop AI/ML algorithms for data cleaning, integration, modeling, and validation. The generation of mineral predictive maps is a key deliverable.
The hackathon aims to facilitate the generation of mineral predictive maps. These maps will visualize exploration targets through maps, sections, etc. This will significantly enhance the effectiveness of critical mineral exploration.
Stage 1 involves registration and submission of solutions, with a deadline of 12th May 2025. Participants must adhere to the submission guidelines provided in the IndiaAI Hackathon document.
Stage 2 includes the evaluation process and presentations by shortlisted teams. The selected teams will present their solutions to a panel of experts.
The last date for form submission is 12th May 2025. Ensure all required information is accurately filled in the application form.
The First Prize is INR 10 Lakhs. This is awarded to the team with the most innovative and effective solution.
The Second Prize is INR 7 lakhs, and the Third Prize is INR 5 lakhs. These prizes recognize the second and third best solutions, respectively.
A Special Prize of INR 5 lakhs is available for All-Women Teams, if no women team is in the top 3. This encourages participation from women in the field of AI and mineral exploration.
Participants must download the IndiaAI Hackathon document for comprehensive submission guidelines. Adherence to these guidelines is crucial for a successful submission.
Participants may use any datasets to strengthen their solution. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) provides several datasets on AIKosh.
Key datasets include: Multi-Layer Geological Maps, Geochronology Map, Geomorphology Map, Lineament Features, Geochemical Data Points, Aerogeophysical Data, Ground Gravity Data, Mineral Exploration Blocks, Mineral Maps from ASTER Data, and Technical reports on mineral exploration.
The hackathon is open to innovators, researchers, and entrepreneurs. Participants should have a background or interest in AI, geology, and mineral exploration.
To participate, teams must register and submit their solutions by the specified deadline. Ensure all team members meet the eligibility criteria.
