Description

The Indigenous Advancement Strategy: Support for Community Sector Organisations Grant Opportunity supports Community Sector Organisations (CSOs) that previously received an Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) grant for an eligible activity.

Overview

Funding is available to support CSOs experiencing funding supplementation needs due to additional staff wage pressures and high inflation rates. This support is part of $190 million allocated by the NIAA over four years (2022-23 to 2025-26) as part of the October 2022-23 Budget.

Funding amounts and the duration of grant agreements will be determined based on:

  • The duration of existing IAS funding agreements for eligible grant activities.
  • A percentage of the current IAS funding granted to each eligible CSO for each eligible grant activity.
  • The location of service delivery for each eligible grant activity, with eligible grant activities delivered in remote and very remote areas potentially receiving a higher percentage of supplementation funding.

The NIAA anticipates conducting annual grant rounds to refresh the list of eligible organisations and activities, and to reflect emerging economic circumstances. Additional, smaller-scale rounds may also be conducted.

Eligibility

An organisation is eligible if it meets all the following criteria:

  • It is a not-for-profit organisation.
  • It is affected by the Fair Work Commission’s minimum wage decision and/or higher inflation outcomes.
  • It delivers an eligible grant activity, which must be an activity funded through the IAS administered by the NIAA.
  • The activity must have been current on 31 October 2022, meaning it was the subject of an executed grant agreement on that date to deliver services at any time during 2022-23, 2023-24, 2024-25, or 2025-26, and the activity must be directly linked to community service delivery.

Funding and Benefits

The programme provides funding supplementation to eligible CSOs. The earliest start date for this grant activity is 23 May 2023.

Application Process

Eligible CSOs are not required to submit an application or provide any additional information to be considered for a grant under this opportunity.

Only eligible CSOs who deliver an eligible grant activity (as defined in section 4.1 of the Grant Opportunity Guidelines) and as determined by the NIAA will be considered for funding. If the NIAA requires additional information to assess an organisation’s eligibility, this information will be requested in writing.
