Description

The International Travel Support (ITS) scheme from the Anusandhan National Research Foundation provides financial assistance to Indian researchers for presenting a research paper at an international scientific event held abroad. Support is also available for attending training programmes, short-term schools, and workshops.

Overview

The International Travel Support (ITS) scheme enables Indian researchers to participate in international scientific events. The programme covers travel for presenting original research papers and for attending training programmes, short-term schools, and workshops. The maximum duration for training programmes, schools, and workshops is limited to 21 days.

Funding and Benefits

The funding provides round-trip airfare by the shortest route, airport tax, and visa fees for attending the specific event. For young scientists, a registration fee of up to 50,000 INR, or the actual amount whichever is less, is provided in addition to the above support.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must be active Indian researchers engaged in R&D work at recognised academic institutions or research laboratories in India.
  • Applicants must have an invitation for presenting an original scientific paper. For young scientists attending training programmes such as short-term courses, summer/winter schools, or workshops, a similar invitation is required.
  • Applicants must not have availed financial assistance under this scheme during the last three years.
  • The scientific event must be of an international character. Invitations of a personal nature, such as for post-doctoral work, informal training programmes, internships, or observerships, are not eligible.
  • Applicants must have obtained a Master's degree in Science or a Bachelor's degree in professional courses from a recognised university by the time of application.
  • Young scientists must be below 35 years old as of the date of the start of the event.
