Introduction

The Joan Shorenstein Fellowship Program is a prestigious opportunity for journalists, scholars, politicians, and policymakers to engage with the Harvard Kennedy School community. Scope of Work

Fellows are expected to contribute original work to the Shorenstein Center's website, such as expert commentaries, white papers, policy papers, podcasts, or video series. This content should contribute to the public's understanding of how essential information is created, conveyed, and consumed. Fellows are also expected to engage with students through workshops, office hours, and speaking events.

Eligibility

The program welcomes career professionals from various fields related to media, politics, and public policy. This includes journalists, media and civic technology innovators, nonfiction authors, documentary filmmakers, political advisors, policymakers, academic scholars, and policy analysts. The Shorenstein Center values diversity and encourages applications from all demographic backgrounds and across the political spectrum.

Budget and Duration

Stipends and other financial assistance are dependent on need, the scope of the fellow's work, and their contribution to the centre. Applicants can indicate their need for financial assistance in the application. Stipend funds are limited and not guaranteed. The fellowship program is for a semester.

Additional Information

Applicants must have a minimum of ten years of full-time experience in their respective fields. Non-native English speakers must provide a TOEFL or IELTS score. Applicants should not have participated in another fellowship within the two years prior to their preferred semester.
