The L'Oréal Indonesia, in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemendiktisaintek), has launched the L'Oréal - UNESCO For Women In Science (FWIS) program. This initiative offers National Fellowships in the form of research scholarships to support young women researchers in Indonesia.
The L'Oréal - UNESCO For Women In Science (FWIS) program aims to recognize, encourage, and support women in the field of science. This program is run in Indonesia through a collaboration supported by the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
The program provides research scholarships to four young women researchers who have a doctoral/PhD education or are currently pursuing doctoral/PhD studies. These scholarships are available in the fields of Life Science and Non-Life Science (Physical Sciences, Material Science, Engineering, IT, Mathematics, etc.).
The closing date for applications is 29 September 2025. This gives interested candidates ample time to prepare and submit their proposals.
The program offers significant financial support to selected researchers. The funding amount for each awardee's proposal is Rp100,000,000 (one hundred million rupiah).
This amount is awarded to each of the four winners: two in the Life Sciences category and two in the Non-Life Sciences category. The grant size ranges from $1000 to $10,000.
The research funds are intended to support the awardees in conducting further scientific research at universities or scientific institutions. This research should have a positive impact on Indonesia.
To be eligible for the L'Oréal - UNESCO For Women In Science National Program, applicants must meet specific criteria. These criteria ensure that the program supports deserving and qualified candidates.
Applicants must be female young researchers/scientists with Indonesian nationality.
The maximum age limit is 45 years old as of November 30, 2025.
Candidates must be active in the field of Life Sciences and Non-Life Sciences (Material Science, Earth Science, Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, etc.).
Candidates must be eligible for the competition during their doctoral studies and/or have received a doctoral degree.
All applicants must submit the required documents on the official application website to be considered for the award.
The application process requires the submission of a detailed research proposal. The proposal should have a concise and clear title with a structured description, preferably written in English.
The research proposal should include the following sections: Background, Problem Formulation & Problem Statement, Research Method/Approach, Expected Results, and Estimated Research Budget. The budget should detail funds for research for a period of +/- 6 months to 1 year.
Additional required documents include: Recommendation letter from research supervisor (min. 2 people), Statement of approval from the institution/organization organizing the research, Copy of official transcript of postgraduate studies or proof of obtaining a PhD/S3 degree.
