Medicare Thriving Kids supports the continuation of the Pregnancy, Birth and Baby (PBB) service and the establishment of an information, advice, and navigation service, utilizing the Commonwealth’s investment in technology for the 1800MEDICARE service delivered through Healthdirect Australia (Healthdirect).

Overview

The PBB helpline and website function as a national Australian Government service, offering support and information for expecting parents and parents of children, from birth to five years of age, and is administered by Healthdirect.

The established service is designed to deliver:

• A redesigned Pregnancy, Birth and Baby (PBB) service, providing dedicated midwifery-led support for parents and families from preconception to one-year postpartum via helpline, video call, website content, and a mobile application.
• Advice and service-finding support to families, carers, and others in the community who interact with children aged 1-8 regarding queries about early development and behavioural concerns.
