The National Board of Higher Mathematics (NBHM) invites applications for Research Project Grants from faculty members at Indian institutions.

These grants aim to support research projects in the broad area of Mathematics.

The grants are intended to cover expenses related to research activities, including domestic academic visits, purchase of books and equipment, and stipends for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

Scope of Work

The grants are meant to cover expenses for a maximum period of three years. These expenses include:

  • Domestic academic visits (cost of travel) for the Principal Investigator (PI), students, and post-docs supported under the grant.

  • Purchase of books, equipment, computer hardware/software (including computational time on cloud resources) necessary for research.

  • Stipend for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers, not already supported by the PI's institution or another agency.

Eligibility

Faculty members at Indian institutions with tenure valid for the duration of the project are eligible to apply.

Budget and Duration

The grants are awarded for a maximum period of three years.

The budget covers expenses related to domestic academic visits, purchase of books and equipment, and stipends for PhD students and post-doctoral researchers.

Key Dates

Fresh applications are processed in two cycles with strict deadlines:

  • Autumn cycle: 30 June

  • Spring cycle: 31 December

Proposals received after the deadline will be considered for the subsequent review batch.
