Overview

This grant program supports the establishment or replication of long-term safe homes that provide housing for months or years, as opposed to emergency shelter. These homes must offer comprehensive, multidisciplinary care that addresses the physical, psychological, emotional, social, and educational needs of the women and girls served. Grantees are expected to strengthen partnerships between state- and community-level providers, which may include healthcare systems, domestic or sexual violence organizations, law enforcement, behavioral health providers, substance use disorder treatment providers, or education providers. By partnering with healthcare and community organizations, these safe homes aim to improve healthcare providers' ability to help victims of violence and improve prevention of further violence and re-traumatization.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants include the following categories:

• Education: Private institutions of higher education, independent school districts, public and state institutions of higher education.

• Nonprofit: Other Native American tribal organizations, nonprofits non-higher education with 501(c)(3), nonprofits non-higher education without 501(c)(3).
• Business: For-profit organizations other than small businesses.
