The Sun Pharma Science Foundation offers Science Scholar Fellowships for Young Scientists, aiming to identify and support promising young researchers in Bio-medical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. These fellowships encourage young minds to pursue research careers and contribute to the advancement of science.

Fellowship Details

Each Science Scholar Fellowship includes a certificate and a cash prize of Rupees One Lakh. Additionally, fellows receive Rupees One Lakh to attend an international conference for presenting abstracts/posters. To receive this additional funding, fellows must submit an invitation letter from the conference organizing committee and detailed expense documentation to the foundation.

The fellowship supports research in Biomedical and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Selected candidates are recognized as Sun Pharma Science Foundation Science Scholars and are expected to present a paper at an international conference related to their expertise.

The Foundation also covers economy airfare, boarding, and lodging expenses for fellows invited to receive the Fellowship and participate in Foundation events. These events include the annual Symposium, Research Fellowships Presentation Ceremony, and Conferences, providing opportunities to interact with leading scientists and researchers.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must be Indian nationals conducting research in India. The age limit is less than 30 years. Candidates should have completed at least the first year of their MD or PhD in Biomedical or Pharmaceutical Sciences. Applicants who have already completed their MD or PhD are not eligible.

Applicants must have completed a Research Project. The Fellowship is open to all disciplines related to Biomedical and Pharmaceutical sciences. Candidates should be prepared to present their research work to a panel of assessors.

Application Process

Nominations must be submitted online, including a photograph, fellowship category, and personal details. Applicants need to provide their ongoing course information, contact details, and the nominator's information. A letter from the supervisor/nominator is required, certifying the applicant's research work.

After uploading the justification letter, applicants receive login credentials to upload their detailed CV and research project details. The research work should be described under specific headings, including Title, Introduction, Objectives, Material and Methods, Results, Statistical Analysis, Discussion, Impact of the research, and Literature references.

Applicants must also include a voluntary declaration stating they will work in public or private funded academic/research organizations for at least two years post-studies. Additionally, a letter confirming ethical clearance for the project and a statement declaring no conflict of interest with supervisors/co-authors are required.

Required Documents

Applicants need to upload testimonials, including Class XII marks in PCB/PCM, Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree aggregate marks, and details of publications. Information on any merits, fellowships, or scholarships received should also be provided, along with age proof.

A print copy of the online nomination, along with all uploaded information, must be sent to the Sun Pharma Science Foundation office. Shortlisting is based on predetermined criteria and the quality of the research work.

Shortlisted applicants will be invited to present their research work to a group of assessors. The assessment is based on voting by the assessors, and in case of a tie, the Fellowship will be shared. The committee's decision is final.

Responsibilities of Science Scholars

Science Scholars have no claim of any sort with Sun Pharma Science Foundation or Sun Pharma group of companies. They are expected to provide a voluntary declaration that they would work in the public or private funded academic/research based organizations for a minimum period of two years after completion of their studies.

The Science Scholars are expected to keep the Foundation informed about their achievements from time to time.
