Tech Policy Press is a non-profit media venture dedicated to fostering discussions and new ideas at the intersection of technology and democracy.
The organization aims to advance a pro-democracy movement in tech and tech policy.
In 2023, Tech Policy Press launched its first fellowship program, supporting seven part-time fellows who researched and wrote on critical topics related to technology's impact on democracy and society.
The 2025 Fellowship program focuses on artificial intelligence (AI) policy, governance, and regulation, with a specific interest in areas where these issues connect with concerns at the intersection of technology and democracy.
The 2025 Fellowship program will support five reporting fellows who will research and write on issues and questions related to AI policy, governance, and regulation. Fellows will produce analysis and reporting on these issues on at least a monthly basis, developing a consistent focus area or beat within the broader tech policy landscape.
They will conduct thorough research and reporting to support all published work, adhering to Tech Policy Press's editorial guidelines and standards.
Applicants must demonstrate a strong understanding of AI policy, governance, and regulation, with a specific interest in areas where these issues connect with concerns at the intersection of technology and democracy.
They should have a proven track record of research and writing, and be able to produce high-quality, insightful analysis and reporting.
Applicants must also be able to meet all deadlines and manage their time effectively.
Selected fellows will receive a stipend of $10,000 to support their work. The fellowship program will run for one year, with fellows expected to produce a significant body of work by the end of the program.
The fellowship program is remote, with fellows expected to attend monthly cohort meetings and schedule one-on-one meetings with Tech Policy Press staff.
Fellows will also have access to learning opportunities provided by Tech Policy Press and will be encouraged to develop and maintain a network of expert sources in their focus area.
The application deadline is October 15th, 2024. Applicants will be notified of their status by December 6, 2024.
