Focus Areas

The grant prioritizes projects within three main groups:

  • Advanced Manufacturing, Digital, and Technology

  • Clean Energy

  • Life Sciences (Advanced Biomedical and Biopharmaceutical Technology)

Projects can be in one of the mentioned disciplines or cross-discipline. They should respond to both countries' needs and meet the criteria as specified in the Guidance Notes document.

Objectives and Outcomes

The UK-Viet Nam iTechPath grant supports projects that address key objectives. These include developing talent programs, facilitating joint research, mobility, and exchange, and establishing sustainable partnerships.

The grant aims to enable UK-Viet Nam partnerships that support Vietnamese universities in developing talent programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, including joint PhD programs. This is intended to build on UK best practices and support human resources development in Viet Nam.

Projects could lead to the establishment of a UK-VN Higher Education Consortium with a shared vision for setting up talent programs. They may also provide seed funding for partnerships and support joint workshops and seminars on innovation and research.

Funding Details

Funding is available for an expected total of six (06) projects. Each project can receive a value of up to £10,000.

The project length is 6 months, with projects starting in late September 2025. This funding aims to stimulate collaborative initiatives between UK and Vietnamese institutions.

The grant could support partnerships that aim to achieve the establishment of Talent programmes as a platform that supports human resource development for Viet Nam in the short run, and further expansion of the model to wider higher education in Viet Nam in the longer run.
