Introduction

The Africa Fellowship for Young Energy Leaders (AFYEL) 2024 is an educational initiative to develop Africa's next generation of energy leaders. The program focuses on providing training in renewable energy technologies and fostering career advancement in the energy sector. The goal is to create a skilled workforce for the renewable energy industry and promote access to clean energy for millions in Africa.

Scope of Work

The program offers a 6-month (26 weeks) professional training program in renewable energy technologies, including small-scale hydro, wind power, bioenergy, and solar power. Globally acclaimed experts deliver the training. Fellows also have the opportunity to participate in a one-month internship, design a capstone project, attend a virtual summit, and network with industry leaders.

Eligibility

Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between the ages of 21 and 35 on or before the application deadline.

  • Hold a graduate, postgraduate, or PhD degree in Physics, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance / Accounting, Physics and Solar Energy, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Building and Construction Engineering, or related fields.

  • Be proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English.

  • Be a citizen of one of the eligible African countries.

Budget and Duration

The program lasts 6 months (26 weeks) and includes a one-month internship. The program covers training costs.
