This funding opportunity aims to ensure the continuity of data collection and participation of Great Britain in the World Values Survey (WVS) for the years 2025 to 2027.

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) is providing a grant of up to £1,027,780 to support this initiative.

The funding will be used to produce high-quality data, collaborate with the international WVS network, and promote the value and potential of the data to the research and user community.

The project will be delivered within the UK, aligning with the WVS requirements to generate a high-quality data resource.

Scope of Work

The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting the WVS in Great Britain, ensuring data collection in waves every five years.

The primary objective is to conduct fieldwork in 2026, aligning with Wave 8: 2024-2026.

The project will follow the guidance provided in the rules and procedures for World Values Survey Association (WVSA) principal investigators (PIs) in Wave 8.

Eligibility

Project leads from non-UK organisations are not eligible to apply for funding. Project co-leads based in non-UK research organisations can be included in research grant applications.

Business, third sector or government body project co-leads based in the UK can also be included on research grant proposals.

Resubmissions of projects that have been submitted to UKRI will not be accepted.

Budget and Duration

The full economic cost (FEC) of the project can be up to £1,027,780, funded in accordance with the ESRC Research Funding Guide. ESRC expects up to around £800,000 of this funding to be spent on data collection, depending on the chosen methodology.

Funding is available from 1 February 2025 to 31 July 2027. The duration of the award is a maximum of 30 months.

The funding will cover staff costs, data collection, distribution and promotion, engagement and collaboration activity, and travel and subsistence.
