The British Council Study UK Alumni Awards 2025 is a prestigious award program that recognizes the outstanding achievements of alumni who have studied in the UK. The awards celebrate the impact and value of a UK higher education and showcase the achievements of alumni who have used their experience to make a positive contribution to their communities, professions, and countries. The program offers a range of benefits to winners, including increased international profile, networking opportunities, and a trip to the UK.
The awards are divided into four categories: Science and Sustainability, Culture and Creativity, Social Action, and Business and Innovation. Each category recognizes alumni who have made significant contributions in their respective fields. The awards are open to alumni living outside of the UK who have studied at a UK higher education institution within the last 15 years.
To be eligible for the awards, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be an alumnus living outside of the UK.
Have studied at a UK higher education institution within the last 15 years (2009-2024).
Have studied at degree level or above (band 9 and above on the UK ENIC band framework).
Have studied at a UK university in the UK for a minimum of one term or semester, or have been awarded a full UK degree level qualification (or higher) by a recognized UK HEI in their home country.
Not be currently employed by the British Council or Gradcore.
Disclose if they are an immediate family member of a British Council or Gradcore employee.
The awards program does not provide a specific budget or duration. However, winners will receive a range of benefits, including a trip to the UK, networking opportunities, and increased international profile.
The awards are judged based on the following criteria:
Impact: Evidence of tangible impact and scale of impact of the applicant's work in their profession/community/society.
UK Influence: Evidence of how the applicant's UK education has played a key influence in their success and impact.
Media Traction: Extent to which the applicant's success story is likely to resonate with local/regional/national media in their country of entry, or beyond.
Potential to Influence and Inspire: Extent to which the applicant and their story are likely to influence and inspire the next generation of prospective internationally mobile students in their country of entry to choose the UK as their study destination.
