Description

The Melvin M.S. Goo Writing Fellowship 2025 is a grant program that awards up to three grants to journalists, authors, or writers from the United States or China.

The fellowship aims to foster understanding between the two countries by supporting projects that promote better understanding between the people of the United States and China.

The fellowship is named after Melvin M.S. Goo, a veteran journalist who had a distinguished career in the United States and Asia.

Scope of Work

The fellowship supports projects that promote understanding between the United States and China.

The projects should focus on underreported feature topics such as cultural issues, lifestyles, education, youth, the arts, etc.

The projects must be original works and should be published or otherwise made publicly accessible in the United States and/or China.

Eligibility

The fellowship is open to journalists, authors, or writers who are nationals or permanent residents of either the United States or the People’s Republic of China (including the Hong Kong and Macao SARs).

The projects must be produced in either English or a Chinese language variety, and applications must be submitted in English.

Budget and Duration

Selected fellows will receive $10,000 to complete their projects.

The projects must be completed and delivered by December of 2025.

Additional Information
