The University of Vienna is offering a postdoctoral position as part of the ERC Consolidator Grant EASE (Early Earth, Venus, and Mars as Exoplanets) led by Kristina Kislyakova.

The project aims to explore the joint evolution of Earth, Venus, and Mars, and their place in the larger family of exoplanetary systems.

The postdoctoral researcher will study the spectral features of Earth, Venus, and Mars at different evolutionary stages and generalize the results for exoplanets.

Scope of Work

The postdoctoral researcher will study the spectral features of Earth, Venus, and Mars at different evolutionary stages and generalize the results for exoplanets.

The team will adapt the atmospheres to stars with different evolutionary histories and explore alternative evolutionary outcomes.

Specific experience with modeling of observable features of exoplanets, experience with forward atmospheric models and retrieval models, in-depth knowledge of stellar evolution, and experience with evolution of solar system objects is considered a strong asset.

Eligibility

  • PhD in related astrophysical topics completed by the starting date

  • Extensive Experience in one or more of the above-mentioned topics

  • Advanced programming skills

  • Interest in (co-)mentoring graduate and undergraduate students

  • Excellent ability to work in a team and excellent communication skills
