The TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2024-2025 is a collaborative initiative between the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye (TÜBİTAK) and The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). This program offers sandwich fellowships to scholars from developing countries who aspire to pursue a portion of their PhD research in the natural and related applied sciences within Turkish universities and TÜBİTAK research institutions. The fellowship duration spans from 6 to 12 months.
The fellowship program focuses on research in various fields, including Agricultural Sciences, Structural, Cell & Molecular Biology, Biological Systems & Organisms, Medical & Health Sciences (including Neurosciences), Chemical Sciences, Engineering Sciences, Astronomy, Space & Earth Science, Mathematical Sciences, Physics, Computing, and Information Technology.
To be eligible for the TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme, applicants must meet the following criteria:
Be a permanent resident and national of a developing country in the South.
Hold a master's or equivalent degree in natural and related applied sciences.
Be a maximum age of 35 years on 31 December of the application year.
Have registered for a doctoral program in natural and related applied sciences in a higher education institution in their home country or another developing country.
Provide an official Acceptance Letter from an eligible department, institution, or laboratory in Turkey.
Submit a Research proposal form prepared in the format determined by TÜBİTAK.
Provide evidence of proficiency in English.
Not have previously received or been awarded a fellowship under this program.
The fellowship program covers travel expenses to and from Turkey, visa-related costs, a monthly allowance for accommodation and living expenses, and medical facilities for minor ailments. The study fees, including tuition, registration, and research costs, are waived or covered by the host institutes. The fellowship duration is a minimum of 6 months and a maximum of 12 months.
The program encourages applications from candidates from Science and Technology Lagging countries (STLC) and women. Applicants already onsite in Turkey are not eligible. The maximum number of academic advisors in Turkey can be two.
The application deadline for the TWAS-TÜBİTAK Postgraduate Fellowship Programme 2024-2025 is December 16, 2024.
