Introduction

The UNDP Timbuktoo GreenTech Startup Accelerator Programme 2024/2025 is a program designed to support GreenTech entrepreneurs in Africa.

The program aims to address the energy crisis in Africa by providing technical support, mentorship, access to funding, and advocacy to green enterprises.

The program focuses on renewable energy technologies that can provide sustainable, accessible, and decentralized solutions, reducing dependence on fossil fuels and improving energy security for communities across Africa.

Scope of Work

The program aims to foster startups developing groundbreaking solutions in renewable energy generation, storage, access, and energy efficiency tailored to African needs.

The program will focus on startups with an emphasis in the following areas:

• Energy Access Technology

• Digitalisation

• Energy Efficiency Technology

• Low Carbon & Capture Technology

• Innovative Business Models

• Smart Grid

• Energy Storage

• Clean/Renewable Energy

• Sustainable Mobility

• Energy Management

Eligibility

The program is open to groundbreaking founders and innovators across Africa who are already building startups that meet the following criteria:

• Startups with founders who are nationals of an African Country.

• Startups must be legally registered and operating within Africa.

• Startups must have been in operation for a minimum of three years.

• Startups must address development challenges.

• Must be a technology-enabled solution.

• Startups must have a Minimum Viable Solution (MVS) (regulated and licensed if necessary).

• Startups should have existing corporate governance systems and accountability.

Budget and Duration

The program provides equity-free funding to support the startups' growth.
