The Wilson China Fellowship 2025 is a one-year non-resident fellowship offered by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars’ Kissinger Institute on China and the United States.
The fellowship aims to support policy-oriented academics specializing in China-related issues to conduct research that enhances understanding of China's role in the Indo-Pacific, its relations with neighboring countries and the United States, and its impact on peace and security.
The fellowship also seeks to bridge the gap between academia and the policy world and foster a new generation of American scholars on China.
The fellowship supports research projects that focus on China's impact on political, social, economic, security, or historical issues, particularly its influence on its periphery, across Asia, and on China-US relations.
The projects should explore understudied, unconventional, unique, emerging, or new topics within academic and policy discussions.
They should build upon existing research on US-China relations and Chinese foreign policy, combining academic rigor with policy relevance.
Preference is given to proposals that adopt an interdisciplinary approach.
The fellowship is open exclusively to US citizens, regardless of their current residency.
Individuals from diverse backgrounds, including academia, business, government, journalism, law, and other professions, are encouraged to apply.
Applicants must have earned a PhD or JD from an accredited university on or after January 1, 2009.
The fellowship provides a stipend of $20,000 for a one-year non-resident period. Fellows are responsible for their own health insurance and research-related travel expenses.
The Center covers costs associated with program-related travel to Washington, D.C. to support the fellowship's conference.
The fellowship prioritizes research projects that demonstrate significance, originality, relevance to contemporary policy issues, and alignment with the Center's programmatic work.
The application process involves submitting a project proposal, a current CV, and two letters of reference.
The application deadline for the Wilson China Fellowship 2025 is December 15, 2024.
