Introduction

The Australia Awards Fellowships 2025 is a program that aims to build networks of influence and leadership by strengthening partnerships between Australian organizations and partner organizations in the region. The program targets senior and mid-career officials and professionals who are in a position to advance development outcomes in priority areas and increase the institutional capacity of partner countries through their leadership.

Scope of Work

Through Australia Awards Fellowships, Australian organizations can apply for funding to host and support a range of professional development activities including: work attachment; supervised research; a management or leadership course; a study tour; program meetings and visits or a combination of these. Fellowships can vary in length, ranging from 2 weeks to 52 weeks.

Eligibility

Australian organizations such as government institutions, business and non-government organizations are eligible to apply. Organizations must be legal entities with an Australian Business Number and must be able to demonstrate links with partner organizations in participating countries and provide in-kind or financial contributions to support Fellowships. Individuals cannot apply.

Budget and Duration

Australian organizations can request funding of up to AUD $34,500 per Fellow, to a maximum of 15 Fellows to cover: return air travel and relevant in-Australia travel, training costs, accommodation and living expenses, medical insurance costs when in Australia (for Fellowship holder only), special assistance for people with disability, and program overhead fee.

Additional Information

Fellowships are flexible and can range from specialist training of Timorese doctors in the endoscopy departments at two leading Australian hospitals, to training government officers from Vietnam on coastal and marine conservation and sustainability.
