The DAAD-SEARCA Scholarship Programme 2025 is a collaborative initiative between the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA).
This program aims to foster strong and internationally oriented higher education systems in Southeast Asia, contributing to sustainable development.
The partnership between DAAD and SEARCA began in 1975-1976, supporting the Center's graduate scholarship program leading to Masters and PhD degrees in agriculture.
The DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Programme provides scholarships for development-related Master or Doctoral studies.
The program targets individuals who plan to pursue a career in teaching and/or research at a higher education institution in their home region or country.
By training future academic professionals and leaders, the program aims to strengthen education and research in Southeast Asia, leading to qualified professionals solving development-related problems and fostering regional networking of partner institutions and universities.
The scholarship is open to nationals of Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Myanmar, Malaysia, Philippines, Timor Leste, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Applicants must be a staff member of a public university, a candidate considered for teaching or research staff recruitment, or from the public sector.
The age limit is 40 years for Master's Degree applicants and 45 years for PhD applicants at the time of application.
Applicants must have completed their last university degree not more than 6 years ago at the time of application.
The proposed thesis research should focus on SEARCA's overarching theme of Accelerating Transformation Through Agricultural Innovation (ATTAIN).
The scholarship covers tuition and other school fees, study and research allowance, printing allowance, stipend for food, lodging and incidental expenses, travel allowance (In-Region only), and insurance.
DAAD In-Country/In-Region scholarship holders are also encouraged to apply for a research grant in Germany for 2 to 6 months, at the time of application.
The short-term research scholarship includes a monthly scholarship payment for living costs, health/accident/personal liability insurance, and a flat-rate travel allowance.
The application deadline is October 18, 2024 for Master's Degree applicants and November 20, 2024 for PhD applicants.
