The International Union for the Scientific Study of Population (IUSSP) Early Career Awards 2025 aims to recognize and honor outstanding contributions to population studies by early career scholars in different world regions. Established in 2023, the award aims to boost the global visibility of these scholars' achievements.
The IUSSP Early Career Award is offered in five world regions: Africa, Asia and the Pacific, Europe, Latin America and the Caribbean, and North America. One award will be given per region in collaboration with regional population associations.
The IUSSP Early Career Awards recognize outstanding contributions to the development of the discipline and the broad field of population studies by early career scholars. The award aims to acknowledge and honor these contributions and boost the global visibility of their achievements.
Candidates should be early career scholars in the population field with not more than 7 years of experience after their PhD at the time of nomination.
Candidates from a region should be a resident of that region at the time of nomination.
Candidates should be a member of the IUSSP at the time of nomination.
Nominations should be supported by at least 5 IUSSP members, 3 of whom should be from more than 1 country in the region of the candidate, and 2 supporters may be from other regions.
Candidates may also nominate themselves; self-nominations must be supported by at least 5 IUSSP members, 3 of whom should be from more than 1 country in the region of the candidate, and 2 supporters may be from other regions.
Nominations and self-nominations cannot be supported by members of the IUSSP Council.
The award includes a Certificate and a Free Registration for the next International Population Conference of the IUSSP (IPC 2025, Brisbane, Australia).
The Awards will be bestowed every other year; the next set of awards will be announced in 2025.
The application deadline is October 1, 2024.

Gather short statements of support from IUSSP sponsors.
Prepare the following documents for uploading:
A 1-2 page explanatory statement/letter of nomination that can also include supporting statements from sponsors.
A full curriculum vitae including a list of publications of the candidate.
Any justifications for leaves of absence for those who received their PhD more than 7 years ago.
